Synecdoche,
New York
‘Synecdoche, New York’ has changed
the very essence of cinema for me.

It took me to unseen and unexplored,
uncomfortable heights.

left me with immense,
gut retching, devastating,
visceral, all consuming sensations
of hopelessness, comfort and bliss,
all at once.

provoking questions,
reaching down into the very
essence of existence
and the miracle of life,

and how we waste it.

how do we tolerate? how de we forgive?
do we tolerate? do we forgive?

in our second semester, we were tasked with creating a ten minute film from scratch as a group, and everyone within that group would have to perform each production role at least once.

an insight, a representation
of the isolating
and overwhelming
voice of anxiety.

I assisted with realising the directors creative vision, through sound design and cinematography.

vocal modification and sound effects create an atmosphere of discomfort;
isolating the viewer from the familiar visuals of life by introducing sound design that is unusual and unknown.

isolating the 'subject' in vibrant and dominating colours heightens the sense of abnormality, creating a sense of 'beyond the real and physical' while still holding onto the thread of the 'subjects' experience.

the film creates a world that is beyond the ordinary, a subjective experience, a personal portrayal of a part of life we all face.

Third Semester International Presents:
Delicately Selected,
Freshly Seasoned Cuts From:
'Macbeth' by William Shakespeare
Featuring texts by Gabriella Neves

in our third semester, we had the amazing privilege, to work with an amazing director, on an amazing, timeless piece.

with sixteen people, we each took on partner scenes within the story, tying them together with bigger, and bolder moments in which we all participated, reflecting on the essence of human desire, fear and greed.

the journey was difficult, but extremely rewarding, incredibly inspiring and eye opening, as to what theatre can be.
